The Republic of Austria is a state in Central Europe. The entire country is located above sea level. The capital is Vienna. The form of state organization is a federal parliamentary republic with nine independent states. Two-thirds of Austria's territory is occupied by the Alps. It has no access to the sea. The head of state is the federal president. The country's position, considering its international legal status, is one of permanent neutrality.
The climate in Austria depends on the altitude. But mostly, the climate is moderate, shifting to continental. Summers are warm and sunny, with an average temperature of +20 °C, but in the valleys, due to the wind from the mountains, the temperature can rise to +35 °C; winters are mild with an average temperature of up to -2 °C.
Population. The estimated population in 2022 is 8,979,894 people.
Language. The official language is German, spoken by almost 89% of the population. However, locals speak the Austro-Bavarian dialect, which does not prevent German-speaking people from understanding Austrians. The majority of the local population speaks English.
