The British Virgin Islands are a British overseas territory located in the Caribbean Sea east of Puerto Rico. They are located near other Caribbean islands and consist of more than 60 islands of varying sizes. The form of government is a high degree of autonomy, but they are subject to the laws and regulations of Great Britain, especially in matters of defense and foreign relations. The capital is Road Town, which is located on the island of Tortola. The climate is tropical. High temperatures and high humidity prevail here throughout the year. The rainy season usually occurs during the summer months. Average temperatures range from 24°C to 30°C (75°F - 86°F) throughout the year. The population is about 30,000 people (2021). The state and official language is English. In addition to English, the local population can speak a Caribbean English dialect, which is known as “Virgin Islands Creole”. The economy of the British Virgin Islands is based largely on financial and offshore services. These islands are a popular place to create offshore companies and funds, thereby attracting foreign investment. Tourism also plays an important role in the economy, providing jobs and income. The standard of living in the British Virgin Islands is generally high. It is a safe place with low crime. Citizens of the British Virgin Islands have a special UK passport. Holders of such a passport can apply for British citizenship.
