Latvia
The Republic of Latvia is one of the smaller states in Northern Europe. It borders with Estonia, Russia, Belarus and Lithuania. Washed by the Baltic Sea. The form of government is a parliamentary republic. The head of state is the president.
Latvia is in the European Union, is a member of NATO and is part of the Schengen area. The country is a unitary state, administratively divided into 36 regions. The capital - Riga - is the largest metropolis in the Baltics, as well as the business, political and cultural center of the region. The old city center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site
Climate. Basically, the climate is temperate, although off the coast it is maritime, and in the east it is continental.
Population. At the beginning of 2022, the population was approximately 1,870,000 people. Immigrants make up about 12% of the country's population.
Language. The official language is Latvian. At the household level, the Russian language is widespread, in some regions the population uses the Latgalian language. The Liv language is not considered a foreign language and the state ensures the protection and preservation of this language as the language of the indigenous population of the autochthons.
Latvia is a developed and modern country, with an excellent education, where a graduate receives an international diploma recognized in all EU countries, with a good level of medical care, which has developed to the European level.
