Liberia (Republic of Liberia) is a country located on the west coast of Africa, on the Atlantic coast. It borders Sierra Leone in the northwest, Guinea in the north and northeast, Cote d'Ivoire in the east, and the Atlantic Ocean in the south. The capital is the city of Monrovia. The form of government in Liberia is a presidential republic. According to the Liberian Constitution, the President is the head of state and government. The country also has a multi-party system. The climate is tropical monsoon. It is characterized by high humidity and warm temperatures all year round. Liberia has two main seasons: the rainy season (May-October), when most of the rainfall occurs, and the dry season (November-April), when the weather becomes less humid. The population is about 5,490,000 people. (2023). The official state language in Liberia is English. The local population of Liberia speaks a variety of local languages and dialects. Some of the most common local languages include the Mande group, Creole English (Liberian Creole) and others. Liberia is rich in natural resources, including iron ore, rubber, wood and diamonds. Agriculture is also an important part of Liberia's economy. Major agricultural products include palm oil, rubber, coffee, cocoa and other food products. Fisheries and the fishing industry are also important given its coastline on the Atlantic Ocean. The standard of living in the country is lower compared to more developed countries. The country faced many socio-economic problems, including the consequences of civil war and the Ebola virus epidemic. However, the government and international organizations are working to improve living conditions in this country. The medical system in Liberia is not well developed, especially in rural areas. There is a shortage of qualified medical specialists and medical diagnostic and treatment facilities. Many citizens turn to traditional methods of treatment. Citizenship can be acquired in several ways: by marriage and by naturalization, but it is not automatically granted by birth in Liberia unless at least one parent is a citizen of the country.
