Saint Martin (French Part)
Saint Martin is the French, northern part of the island of Saint Martin, which is located in the Caribbean Sea, south of Anguilla and west of Saint Helena. The form of government is parliamentary democracy within the framework of the French Republic.
Capital: Saint Martin does not have a capital in the traditional sense, but its administrative center is Marigot.
Population approximately 32,000 people (2021).
The climate is tropical marine. Temperatures in St. Maarten are generally high throughout the year and vary little. Average daytime temperatures are approximately 30°C (86°F) throughout the year. The island has two main seasons - the rainy season and the dry season. The rainy season lasts from May to November, and the dry season lasts from December to April. During the rainy season, the island may be subject to hurricanes and tropical storms.
The official language in Saint Martin is French. In addition, English and Spanish are widely used, especially in tourism.
The main source of income is tourism. There's a lot to see here. Attractions: historic Fort Louis, Loterie Farm amusement park, tar and pearl museum and of course beautiful beaches with white sand and warm clear water. Some of the more famous beaches include Orient Beach, Maho Beach and Anse Marcel.
Students receive education in public and private primary schools. Students can receive secondary education in two lyceums (one public and one private) or two colleges (also one public and one private). Residents can receive higher education only on the French mainland or online.
Medical care is provided at the Louis Constant Fleming Hospital, the level of medical care is quite high.
There are two types of visas to visit Saint Martin:
- short-term is issued for up to 90 days, in such cases as tourism, visiting friends and relatives, business trips, etc.
- long-term visa is issued for up to a year, with the possibility of multiple entries in such cases as study, family reunification, etc.
