Benin
The Republic of Benin is a state in West Africa. It borders Nigeria, Niger, Burkina Faso and Togo. It has access to the Gulf of Guinea of the Atlantic Ocean. The form of government is a presidential republic. The head of state is the president. The capital is Porto Novo. The city is one of the ports of the Gulf of Guinea and the third largest in the country.
Climate. In general, the country is characterized by a tropical and subtropical climate. The coast of southern Benin has a tropical climate. There is high humidity and high temperatures all year round. The rainy season lasts from March to July and from September to November. The northern regions of Benin have a subtropical climate with a more pronounced rainy season and dry season.
Number. The population in 2022 was 13,754,688.
Language. In Benin, the official language is French. It is used in government, education and business fields. Benin is a multilingual country and many African languages are spoken in it, such as Fon, Yoruba and others.
Benin's economy is one of the underdeveloped economies in West Africa. Many people in the country are engaged in agricultural work, and agriculture employs a large part of the country's population. Major crops include cassava, maize, groundnuts, palm oil and other agricultural products. Benin is a small oil producer, but revenues are relatively low compared to some other African countries.
