The Togolese Republic or Republic of Togo is a state in the western part of the African continent. The form of government is a presidential republic. The country is located on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, bordered by Ghana to the west, Benin to the east and Burkina Faso to the north. The capital is the city of Lome. The climate in Togo is tropical, with the rainy season lasting from March to July and the dry season from October to February. The population is about 8,000,000 people. The official language is French; Ewe, Mina, Kabiye and others are also common languages. The standard of living is relatively low, medicine and education are at a low level of development. Security in the country also poses a risk, especially in the north of the country due to possible militant attacks. Togolese citizenship can be obtained through naturalization, having lived in the country for at least 10 years, or through marriage to a Togolese citizen. Citizenship is not granted automatically by birth within the territory of a state. In Togo you can visit the Oti-Keran National Park, as well as numerous markets and museums in the capital Lomé. The local population is usually friendly to visitors. Finding a job for non-citizens can be difficult.
