Tonga
Tonga is an island nation located in the South Pacific Ocean east of Australia and south of Samoa. In total, Tonga includes about 170 islands and atolls, but only about 36 of them are permanently inhabited.
The capital is the city of Nuku'alofa, which is located on the island of Tongatapu.
The form of government is a constitutional monarchy. Tonga is known as one of the few kingdoms in the Pacific and has a long history of monarchical rule. The King is the head of state, but the country also has a parliamentary body known as the Fale Arote (House of Commons).
The climate is subtropical marine, characterized by warm temperatures and high humidity. The average temperature throughout the year is from 23°C to 31°C. There are two main seasons: the dry season from May to October and the wet season from November to April, when there are heavy rains and hurricanes.
The population is about 104,000 people (2021).
The official language of Tonga is Tongan, also called the Tongan language.
The standard of living is considered average by the standards of the Pacific region.
Tourism is an important source of income for Tonga. The country is famous for its sandy beaches, turquoise water and beautiful coral reefs. Some of the popular beaches are Haatafu Beach, Upolu Beach and Anaha Beach.
In addition to tourism, the country receives income from the export of agricultural products and fish.
The medical system in Tonga is developing, but it has limited resources and availability on the outer islands. For serious medical cases, patients may be sent abroad for treatment.
The education system in Tonga includes primary, secondary and tertiary education. Education is free and compulsory for children aged 6 to 14 years. The level of education is average compared to more developed countries.
Security levels are considered relatively high and the country is considered safe for tourists.
A country does not grant citizenship by birth within its territory, but it can be obtained through the naturalization process and through marriage to a citizen of that country.
