The population of the country is 10,074,432 people (2022 data), of which the Portuguese - 87%; former residents of Africa and Asia - 12%; migrants from Eastern Europe and Spaniards - 1%. According to statistics, men in Portugal are 2% less than women.
Language. The official language, Portuguese, is the third most widely spoken language in the world using the Latin alphabet, after English and Spanish. But with countries in which Portugal is close to the state border, for example with Spain, many communicate in Spanish. And in the Azores, the Portuguese of all ages are fluent in English.
